As part of HotCold Studio a supplier to the regional Photographic Community for over 20 years; hotcoldprint was originally an in-house solution to our frustration at not being able to get great giclée printing in Dubai. We wanted to print images, with critical accuracy; from digital files on a range of beautiful fine art archival papers and canvas. We now make our carefully produced printing available to those who share the same values.
As the only DIGIGRAPHIE© approved printer in the region, we can simply just work from your print ready files on your chosen archival surface, or for those who require more input we offer a range of services from basic proofing through to complete style / toning development, retouching services and consultancy.
Digigraphie® was created by Epson to provide a guarantee of Critical Colour Practice and Archival Permanence to prints made with their Fine Art Printers and Ultrachrome Inks. The Digigraphie® program is endorsed by Hahnemühle, Canson and Epson. This has resulted in a number of papers from these three manufacturers meeting highly critical standards of Colour and Archival Permanence when printed under strict conditions. These papers can be certificated by us with a rated Archival Permanence.
Of course you need to continue this Archival practice through to presentation and storage of your images, whilst we do not frame - we can recommend locally based framers who are experienced with the best practice of using Archival Materials for framing / display.
There are a lot of printers out there - so why choose us? Well for a start we are friendly and have great coffee. With a marginal difference in cost we offer so much more. We love great printing and we take great care with your images to explain what is possible and how to get the best out of your files. It all starts with colour calibration and the ability to proof your images on screen with excellent accuracy so you don’t get any nasty surprises. Our service is personalised and bespoke - before printing (If geographically possible) we prefer to sit with you and open your images on our system - this allows us to check that the images when displayed on a calibrated monitor are as you would expect. Then we can show you on screen proofs of how your images will print on paper options. Only after you have some trust with us will we suggest you can just upload your images and we print.
If you are selling your prints your clients need to trust your processes when investing in your work. We can help by issuing a Digigraphie® Certificate that authenticates and guarantees the archival materials and processes used in producing their Giclée print.
We do not roll our prints as this often leads to abrasive damage. They are always “out gassed” to protect your later framing and packed between stiff foam core for delivery or collection. We care about your images - we hope you do to.
We keep a great selection of approved papers from Epson Signature Worthy and Hahnemühle. We take care to offer approved papers that offer some differentiation in surface texture / base colour rather than replicate identical papers between brands. We can get other papers at short notice - just let us know what you are looking for.
Archival Epson papers are now branded Signature Worthy. These Digigraphie® approved papers are beautiful. Epson don’t make papers themselves. They choose very carefully to ensure that they have papers that get the most from their amazing fine art printers. We have chosen our favourites to keep in stock to give you a variance in surface finish and tone - all exhibit amazingly rich blacks and the ability to render subtle transitions in density. Our custom profiling produces vibrant authentic colours and conquers many of the problems encountered in reproducing black and white work in the transition from deep blacks to the first emergence of detail.
Our Selection usually in stock:
Epson Signature Worthy Ultra Smooth Fine Art ( A firm favourite with an authoritative ivory base and rich blacks, really looks beautiful)
Epson Signature Worthy Hot Press Bright White ( Like Ultra Smooth Fine Art but a slightly brighter base - a firm favourite )
Epson Signature Worthy Cold Press Natural - Classy subdued base and texture - suited to dreamy images and watercolour reproduction )
Epson Signature Worthy Premium Canvas satin
Hahnemühle are the oldest German paper maker. We keep a selection of the Digigraphie® approved Hahnemühle Fine Art papers that we really like and that offer interesting variance in surface texture and base colour. Our custom profiling has produced really beautiful results over and above their own profiles which are in our opinion are very poor. If there are papers in their range that are that you would like to use and not shown here; let us know, we will do our best - most papers can be fulfilled with a little notice.
Hahnemühle Torchon (if you like a heavy but random texture this is a beautiful choice with a bright white base ).
Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin (An unusual paper that has a Satin finish on printed areas and Matt where unprinted (whites and of course border)
Hahnemühle Museum Etching - (Great for Reproduction of Line Work and Colour work with a lite regular texture).
Hahnemühle William Turner - (just need a little bit of texture? this could be for you).

All Papers and Canvas are priced identically. All prints are “Out Gassed” and supplied ready to frame and flat between stiff 5mm or 10mm FomeCore.
Remember to factor in Image Size + Any Border of unprinted paper. It gets a bit more complicated for Canvas as frame depth and enough for “Pull” at the back. Don’t worry we can help:) Just ask.
